Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled new developments in Hatta, with the completion of 4.5 km of dedicated and shared cycle and e-scooter tracks.
This boosts the total length of bike and scooter tracks in the area by 50 per cent, bringing it to 13.5 km.
Two rest areas and a 2.2 km walking track have also been added along the new tracks, enhancing Hatta's infrastructure for soft mobility solutions.
The projects also include the paving of a new parking lot at Wadi Leem Lake, which accommodates 135 vehicles, and the upgrade of the existing gravel road with tiles suited to Hatta’s terrain.
Traffic and directional signs have been installed around Leem Lake to guide visitors and ensure road safety.
"Our improvements aim to integrate various transportation modes, providing a better mobility experience and supporting Dubai’s ambitions to be a top bicycle-friendly city," said Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at the RTA, who highlighted the importance of these developments.
Al Banna added that the new cycling track, which starts at the Hatta Community Centre, crosses the pedestrian bridge at Leem Lake, and connects with existing tracks at Wadi Hatta Park and the Hatta Guest House area.
This track then links Hatta Sports Club and integrates with streets in the Almasiaf area, encouraging exercise and individual mobility.
Recently, the RTA completed the construction of Hatta Souq Roundabout on Dubai-Hatta Road to streamline vehicle access and reduce travel time.
A new U-turn near Wadi Hub has also been added to facilitate better vehicle movement and enhance traffic safety at key sites in Hatta.
