Two young Palestinian boys have started receiving treatment at the Emirati field hospital that has been set up in the Gaza Strip under the UAE's "Gallant Knight 3" humanitarian campaign.
According to the national news agency WAM, 17-year-old Abdul Karim and 13-year-old Osama Barhoum were being treated for "severe fractures".
Karim Wael, who fractured his right ankle and wounded his right knee after heavy concrete fell on him, was transferred from Gaza's Abu Yousef Al Najjar Hospital and was accompanied by his uncle to the Emirati hospital.
Meanwhile, Barhoum was transferred from the European Gaza Hospital to treat an open fracture in his right thigh caused by a missile fragment.
The hospital, with a capacity of more than 150 beds, was established in multiple stages.
It has departments for general surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics and gynecology, in addition to anesthesia and intensive care units catering to both children and adults. The facility will also house clinics for internal medicine, dentistry, psychiatry and family medicine, with supplementary services for CT imaging, a laboratory, and a pharmacy.
The medical team comprises qualified cadres in various medical specialisations and health volunteers.
It comes as the UAE sent more humanitarian aid, including basic food items, powdered infant formula and shelter materials to house displaced Palestinians.
Since the outbreak of the crisis, UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has allocated a humanitarian aid package worth $20 million and launched the 'Gallant Knight 3' campaign.
