Dubai is introducing a new front licence plate for motorcycles and e-bikes used in corporate delivery services. These vehicles previously carried only rear plates.
The new requirement takes effect at the end of December and will be implemented gradually as licences come up for renewal.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) says the move is part of a wider regulatory framework to enhance the safety and security of the fast‑growing delivery sector and aligns with international best practices.
The move follows joint work between the RTA and Dubai Police, including consultations with government and private‑sector partners to review measures that strengthen oversight and improve road safety.
Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the RTA’s Licensing Agency, said the new plates will feature a gold background with black lettering and a code '9' to identify delivery motorcycles.
They will be issued under a new, unified number during new licensing or renewals and in cases of damage or loss.
The rule applies only to motorcycles and e-bikes used for parcel and document delivery, order management, and rental services and does not cover private motorcycles.
The RTA and Dubai Police had earlier announced rules restricting delivery motorcycles from using certain fast lanes on multi-lane roads, further supporting safer roads for all users.
#RTA has approved the introduction of an additional front plate for motorcycles and e-bikes used in corporate delivery services, which previously carried only a rear plate. The requirement will take effect at the end of December and will be implemented gradually upon licence…
