Dubai has launched "affordable housing projects" for working professionals in key public and private sector roles in an effort to "improve living standards for (the city's) workforce".
Making the announcement on Tuesday, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, said the move supports "the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and aligns with the city’s affordable housing policy".
It will be carried out in collaboration between Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality and Wasl Group.
The first phase "will see the development of more than 17,000 homes for skilled professionals of various nationalities working across public and private sectors," Sheikh Hamdan added.
It will cover six areas in Me'aisem 1, Al Twar 1, Al Qusais Industrial 5, and Al Leyan 1, spanning 1.46 million square metres.
"Our goal is to offer quality housing that improves living standards for Dubai’s workforce and strengthens its status as one of the world’s best cities to live and work," Sheikh Hamdan added.
