The Council is hosting the ‘Marathon At Home’ event on Friday April 10 from 8am to 6pm as part of its ‘Be Fit, Be Safe’ campaign.
Participants will run the full 42.195 kilometre distance within a ten-hour timeframe and can design a running course to suit their environment, as long as they physically run on the floor or ground, within their home.
There are two conditions: no running in public areas will be allowed, and the use of treadmills or exercise machines is also forbidden.
Registration is open until April 6 at www.530run.club and it’s free to enter. To enrol, make sure you download the Strava app and join the ‘Marathon At Home’ group.
All finishers receive a certificate, t-shirt and medal. Prizes for top finishers include running gear, training sessions and entry to September’s Moscow Marathon.
“The main goal of this event is to show that ‘impossible’ is not in our dictionary and that you can still train for a marathon at home,” said Fuad Naser, founder of 5:30 Run club.
