Danny Willett has been crowned the 2016 Omega Dubai Desert Classic champion after a dramatic finale on the final day. The Englishman rolled home a fantastic 12ft birdie putt on the last hole to clinch a one-shot victory over compatriot Andy Sullivan and playing partner Rafael Cabrera-Bello.Willett’s final round of 69 saw him finish on 19 under par and become only the third Englishman to win the tournament after Mark James (1989) and David Howell (1999). The victory, Willett's first on the European Tour since his win at the Omega European Masters last July, sees the 28-year-old move up from 20th to 15th in the Official World Rankings. Sullivan's runners-up spot was his second in Dubai after he lost out to Rory McIlroy at the DP World Tour Championship last November. Cabrera-Bello's wait for a first title since he won the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in 2012 goes on. Meanwhile, defending champion Rory McIlroy shot a final round seven under par, 65 to finish the tournament on 15 under and a tie for sixth.
