The UAE will host the third edition of the World Fire Congress in Dubai in 2028, becoming the first country in the Middle East to host the international gathering of fire, rescue and civil defence leaders.
The hosting was officially handed over during the World Fire Congress 2026 in London.
Dubai Civil Defence Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi received the ceremonial 'Hosting Hammer', marking the transfer of hosting rights to Dubai.
The biennial congress brings together fire and emergency services leaders, government officials, researchers and industry experts from around the world to share knowledge, strengthen cooperation and address emerging risks.
Key issues discussed at this year’s event included disaster preparedness, building safety, climate-related emergencies, firefighter health and safety, and the use of technology and artificial intelligence to strengthen emergency response.
The 2028 congress in Dubai is expected to bring together experts from around the world to exchange best practices and explore new solutions for protecting lives and property.
The World Fire Congress was first held in Washington, D.C., in 2024, with representatives from 54 countries.
This year’s London edition brought together participants from more than 60 countries.
