From February 2, UAE government and private sector workers will have the option to work flexibly, part-time, or take up temporary jobs.
The provision of leave will also be the same for both sectors, with fixed-term employment contracts.
That's according to the latest announcement from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, which added that all workers will be protected under anti-discrimination regulation prohibiting employers from recruiting on the basis of race, colour, gender, religion, nationality, social origin, or disability.
The new regulations, approved by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, are part of the UAE's largest legislative reforms with 40 new laws aimed to spearhead the country's next five decades.
During a media briefing, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, said the unified system aims to build a flexible and competitive workplace, safeguarding employee rights across the country.
