UAE President expresses support during call with Qatar's Emir

WAM

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has expressed solidarity with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani following the Iranian missile strike on Al Udeid air base in Doha.

During a call with the leader, Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed UAE's support for Qatar’s sovereignty and security and condemned the attack.

He also enquired about the situation in Qatar and the wellbeing of its people.

The two leaders discussed the recently announced ceasefire between Iran and Israel. Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the agreement and praised Sheikh Tamim’s role in helping to facilitate it, stressing the importance of continued coordination to support peace and stability in the region.

Sheikh Tamim expressed his gratitude for UAE’s sentiments and supportive stance towards Qatar and its citizens.

Although the missile strike, carried out by Iran on Monday night, resulted in no casualties, the UAE described it as a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law.

Several other Arab nations — including Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Oman, and Morocco — also issued strong condemnations of the attack.
