The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has introduced a groundbreaking regulation, making it the first in the region to set national standards for certifying air navigation service providers for unmanned aircraft.
The new rule, known as CAR Airspace Part Uspace, provides a comprehensive framework for organisations looking to offer air navigation services for drones, ensuring they meet rigorous operational and safety requirements.
This regulation covers all aspects of certifying drone service providers, including training, safety protocols, quality assurance, future planning and auditing.
The aim is to integrate drone operations smoothly into the existing aviation system, creating a safe and efficient airspace for unmanned aircraft.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, highlighted that as drone operations are expected to double in the near future, this framework will set the stage for seamless integration between drones and commercial aviation, reinforcing the UAE's leadership in the aviation sector.
