Two people have been killed in an accident involving a speeding sports car, which fell off a bridge near Etihad Mall in Al Khawaneej area.
According to Dubai Police, the driver of the vehicle and a woman accompanying him died in the accident, which was reported on Tuesday at 11:55 pm.
"As the car approached the bridge's curve, it skidded, collided with the curb, mounted the concrete barrier, and fell from the bridge to the street below," said Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic.
He added that due to the vehicle's excessive speed, it continued in the opposite direction on the lower street until it came to rest on the median strip, where it caught fire.
Experts from the Accident Inspection Department were immediately dispatched to the scene to collect evidence and determine the cause of the crash.
At the same time, patrol teams managed traffic flow, secured the accident site, and facilitated the arrival of ambulances and rescue vehicles.
Al Mazrouei emphasised the importance of adhering to speed limits while driving, avoiding distractions, and complying with traffic rules to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all road users.
