Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will soon launch a smart gate that will enable public transport users to pay using facial recognition, without the need for tickets, nol cards, or credit cards.
Once registered, the cameras will be able to read the face and transform the image into bio data, using 3D tech and AI, linked to the person's account. And, the amount will be deducted.
The new tech will be unveiled at GITEX, which kicks off on Monday at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The RTA will also unveil the revamped version of its app, allowing motorists to transfer ownership of vehicle number plate service online without the need to visit customer service centres by using digital ID "UAE PASS".
A model of the world's first electric Abra manufactured using 3D printing technology and the application of AI and big data technologies to forecast the occupancy of public parking will also be featured.
“RTA is keen to keep pace with the future direction of the Dubai government, in transforming into smart, innovative, and sustainable cities using cutting-edge communications technologies and digital solutions," highlighted Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, RTA.
"In cooperation with GM Cruise, RTA is gearing up to deploy autonomous Cruise vehicles for taxi and e-hail rides, with he number set to grow gradually to reach 4,000 vehicles by 2030."
