The Ministry of Environment and Water has launched the National Blue Carbon Project report at the Ecocity World Summit 2015 in Abu Dhabi. The study will help guide decision-making in coastal ecosystem preservation and climate change mitigation. Blue Carbon refers to ecosystems which absorb greenhouse gases, and the project will benefit strategies to preserve these. It therefore continues efforts towards a low-carbon economy, in line with the UAE Green Growth Strategy.
