The Indian Consulate in Dubai has unveiled a new death insurance cover for blue-collar workers for annual fees ranging between AED 37 and AED 72.
In a statement, the Consulate said the scheme, outlined following a collaboration between two insurance companies, will compensate families of the deceased anywhere between AED 35,000 and AED 75,000.
The cover - provided by Gargash Insurance Services and Orient Insurance - for "natural or accidental" death will be for workers aged between 18 and 70 years with annual premiums ranging between AED 37 and AED 72.
It will also include benefits like 24-hours worldwide coverage for employees having UAE employment visa, Permanent Total / Partial Disability due to Accident, * Repatriation Expenses (Death only) - up to AED 12,000 per person.
The decision comes after the Consulate identified a gap in the market for insurance covers for death.
"Keeping in view of the large number of natural death cases of workers in a year and in order to provide some financial benefits to the family of the deceased, the Consulate General of India, Dubai, encourages all companies to consider subscription to the Life Protection Plan," said Consul General Satish Sivan.
For further details about the Life Protection Plan, that'll take effect on March 1, please email - lifeprotect@gargashinsurance.com or call 0527172944/0526167787.
