Dubai Police will deploy special patrols and drones to ensure student safety on the roads as they return to their classrooms at the start of the new academic year on Monday.
The back-to-school safety initiative will see 250 security and traffic patrols secure school zones, while nine drones will monitor traffic flow and vital sites. Six luxury patrol cars, four mounted police units and 60 bicycles will also be used to enhance field presence.
Additionally, 300 children will participate in the “Safety Ambassadors” programme and more than 750 senior officers and police personnel will engage with students as part of the initiative.
Releasing the details during a press conference at the Officers Club in Al Jaddaf, senior officials said field teams will visit 71 schools in the city to engage with students and parents, raising both security and community awareness.

It will align with the UAE Ministry of Interior's annual "A Day Without Accidents" initiative that will see drivers pledging to avoid any violations on August 25 to see four black points removed from their traffic records.

Meanwhile, police in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah have held special road safety workshops for school bus drivers and supervisors.
The school bus staff were reminded to follow traffic rules, avoid speeding, ensure children wear safety belts and check if all students disembark from the vehicle upon arrival at the campus.
In Sharjah, 600 school bus drivers and supervisors participated in the "Our First Lessons for Safety" at the Palace of Culture.
