A new cultural milestone, the 'Dubai Orchestra' project has officially been approved, marking a major step in strengthening the emirate’s arts sector and promoting local talent on the global stage.
The project was approved by The Executive Council of Dubai under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
Sheikh Hamdan said the orchestra will help preserve the region’s musical heritage while promoting innovation and international collaboration.
It’s part of wider efforts to embed arts and culture into everyday life and to build a sustainable creative infrastructure across the emirate.
The Dubai Orchestra aims for Emirati talent to make up half its members by 2033.
It will also roll out youth-focused programmes, educational initiatives and international collaborations to nurture artistic talent and deepen community engagement.
Dubai Culture & Arts Authority will lead the project in collaboration with public and private sector partners.
The initiative is aligned with the objectives of Dubai’s Creative Economy Strategy and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to position the emirate among the world’s top three urban economies.
It also supports the goals of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 by positioning the city as a vibrant hub for cultural movements and creative expression.
