Dubai NYE: Road closures, traffic plan announced

Dubai authorities say they are fully prepared to deliver a safe, world-class New Year’s Eve celebration across the emirate.

The Event Security Committee confirmed its full readiness during a press conference at Dubai Civil Defence headquarters, attended by senior officials from key government and partner entities.

This year’s celebrations will include fireworks at 40 locations across the emirate, with 48 separate displays.

Major sites include Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Atlantis The Royal, Expo City Dubai, Dubai Frame, Al Marmoom Oasis, Hatta and several other destinations.

To keep everything running smoothly, 55 government and private entities are working under a unified security framework.

Dubai has been divided into four operational sectors — North, Central, West and Marine — for efficient coordination. Plus, 37 support tents will offer police services, first aid, lost and found, and care for children.

Authorities are urging everyone to follow safety instructions, cooperate with police, and stick to traffic rules.

For emergencies, dial 999, and for non-emergency queries, call 901. Workers will also have dedicated viewing areas with big screens and meals, ensuring everyone enjoys the celebrations safely.

• Dubai Police have deployed nearly 10,000 officers, more than 1,600 patrol vehicles, 53 marine boats, mounted patrols and bicycle units to secure celebrations on land and sea.
• Dubai Civil Defence has also confirmed full readiness, with more than 1,750 firefighters deployed across the emirate.
  • Over 300 facilities have been inspected, 26 stations activated and more than 150 specialised vehicles prepared, including marine firefighting boats. The public is reminded to call 997 in case of fire emergencies.
• The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) says it is ready to manage traffic and public transport, especially around Downtown Dubai and Burj Khalifa.
  • Road closures will begin from 4:00 pm and expand gradually until 11:00 pm on key roads, including Al Asayel Street, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Burj Khalifa Street, the Lower and Upper Financial Centre Roads, Al Mustaqbal Street, Al Sukook Street, and Sheikh Zayed Road.
  • Public transport services have been significantly increased. Dubai Metro Red and Green Lines and the Dubai Tram will operate continuously for up to 43 hours, while more than 14,000 taxis, 18,000 limousine vehicles and 1,300 buses will be in service.
  • Around 20,000 parking spaces will be available in the Burj Khalifa area, with additional parking at metro stations and support locations.
• Dubai Ambulance Services have activated 236 ambulance points across Dubai and Hatta, supported by air ambulance services, marine units and rapid response teams.
  • Fifty trained volunteers will assist in high-density areas, and the public can request ambulance services via 998 or the Dubai Ambulance app.
• Dubai Municipality said public beaches will be designated for families only on New Year’s Eve, while 14 public parks will extend operating hours until 1:00 am to provide safe and comfortable viewing areas.
  • Fireworks and drone shows will be presented for the first time from Dubai Frame, offering a unique visual experience.
• Dubai Health has implemented a proactive healthcare plan, deploying 1,900 medical staff. Six hospitals and four clinics are on full alert, and a fully equipped field hospital has been set up near Burj Khalifa, including a paediatric care section.
• Dubai Media Inc.'s coverage of the New Year 2026 celebrations will include a special evening programme 'Fihobi Dubai' (In Love with Dubai), celebrating the vision and poetry of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and poems by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
