Barakah Nuclear Power Plant's second unit is undergoing testing in preparation for operation next year.
It follows on from the success of Unit 1 launching Barakah as the first commercial nuclear power station in the Arab world.
The UAE's Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) says Unit 2's recently reached 50 per cent power while work on constructing Unit 3 has been completed.
FANR has also outlined a number of strategic projects to further strengthen their regulatory oversight of the nuclear and radiation sectors in the UAE to ensure the safety of public, workers and the environment.
The Board also approved plans to support cooperation with the UAE authorities, as well as with foreign nuclear regulators.
