Abu Dhabi has launched the pilot phase of its Automated Rapid Transit (ART) system, which features electric public buses, each with a 200-passenger capacity.
The pilot phase of the rail-less transport project will include 25 stations along routes extending for about 27 km.
During its initial phase, the service operates from Friday to Sunday, between Reem Mall and Marina Mall, passing along Zayed the First Street and Corniche Street on Abu Dhabi Island.
The ART project is part of Abu Dhabi's Smart Mobility Strategy, which aims to establish an effective and sustainable transport sector supported by advanced technologies.
