Scottish actor Ewan McGregor has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in celebration of his work, particularly for his dedication to the character Obi-Wan Kenobi over the past 25 years.

The ceremony, held on Hollywood Boulevard, was a tribute to McGregor’s big screen career.

McGregor, who first donned the Jedi robes in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace at age 26, reflected on his journey from a fan of the original trilogy to a beloved character in the Star Wars universe.

His recent return to the role in the 2022 series Obi-Wan Kenobi further solidified his place in the franchise.

The ceremony featured heartfelt speeches from writer-director Mike Mills, who collaborated with McGregor on the 2010 film Beginners, and Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker alongside McGregor.

In his acceptance speech, McGregor noted the special significance of his star being placed close to Carrie Fisher’s, emphasising his connection to the Star Wars legacy and his appreciation for the creative opportunities he has enjoyed throughout his career.
